Whenever you hear my name,
You see the lady with the plastic face and frosted hair.
She gets her nails done on Mondays. Tanning on Thursdays.
She’s forty-something, but she pretends she’s twenty-something.
She drives her Lexus
And gives her penny to the church.
She does not like gays, but she seems to like the war.
Whenever you hear my name,
She’s the one you see.
Whenever you hear my name,
You see the man on stage with the animated face
As he speaks to the masses. He’s quite aroused.
You see the golden watch as his hands go in the air
And his eyes go closed.
He asks the people to close theirs.
To come forward. To bow down. To hand in their card.
Viewers at home may send a check.
Whenever you hear my name,
He’s the one you see.
Whenever you hear my name,
You see your high school friend. He said he knew about life
And love.
He told you to repent. He told you about your sin.
He told you to come with him because you needed change.
You had a lot to learn.
He stopped talking to you.
He found a girl. She had sexy legs. And she knew about life too.
Whenever you hear my name,
You see your old friend.
Whenever you hear my name,
Listen to my Word, child.
You’ll see me.
You’ll see me.
